My niece Cecilia has just started on solids. This is my mum feeding her on Sunday night.
So my brother and Yuko are in town for a couple of weeks, primarily for a friend's wedding, which was on Sunday night. I went to my parents' place on Saturday to see them and there were a few family friends around for dinner.
Everyone had something to say about Yuko being a 'soft' mother. The kind of mother who cuddles Cecilia when she cries (or has a tantrum when carried by someone else). Honestly, I understand that giving in to your child's tantrums does not bode well for the future, but does this fact need to be repeated ad nauseum for an entire weekend? I get it! She gets it! Let's just have some dinner.
Anyway, so Damo and Yuko went to the wedding on Sunday evening, leaving us with Cecilia. Who of course threw a tantrum and steadfastly yelled for hours as we tried to soothe her. My sister was pretty good with her, and my mum can make her fall asleep (or at least get her to keep quiet by feeding her). I'm of the shrug brigade who gets used to the noise after a while and can have a drama queen baby on my lap as I read the paper.
So my folks haven't split up. My brother managed to mediate a discussion between them a few days ago, so all is well (for now).
Um. What else? Nothing much of interest. Saw Wolverine on Friday, which I quite liked. A lot of people are giving it pretty bad reviews but I took it for what it was. Ass came along because she loves Ryan Reynolds and was totally traumatised with what happens to him at the end.
Also went to SWF volunteer meeting on Saturday morning, which was run almost like a committee meeting with all these offers from people to do unnecessarily large amounts of work for what is the relatively simple task of telling the other volunteers at the orientation what to expect at the festival. I hate it when simple things get made more complicated so people can feel like they're doing something.
This week am going to be flat out at work, have a birthday dinner on Wednesday (while my bro and sis are still in Sydney), Qirkz on Friday, vollie orientation on Saturday, followed by lunch at the Bavarian Bier Cafe then maybe a spot of karaoke. On Sunday I hope to sleep in, then have a long swim and then sleep some more.
