Finally approved for a place in Waverton yesterday afternoon. Sir called the agent to check that they had received our supplementary material (we had to submit further written references because we had no rental history) and he said "actually I was just about to call you because you've been approved". YAY!
Then he found out that I hadn't seen the place, which is a requirement of accepting tenancy, so I had to hike to Mosman (where the office is) to get the key, after which I went to Glebe for writers' group. Took the train to Waverton during my lunch break and saw the apartment for the first time. Dingy on the outside but all light-filled glory on the inside.
Concerned about the smaller room I struck a deal with Sir - we'll split the rent evenly and she gets the small room and garage and I get the big room. Woo! Can't wait to move in next weekend. Until then will be packing my life into boxes. And then after that we'll have a massive housewarming party.
I have all these grand fantasies involving going to the Chatswood organic markets on Saturdays and going swimming at the Bradfield Park pool twice a week (yeah... right...). Basically living a car-less, environmentally friendly existence.
The other thing I want to mention is that we also picked a great agent, John McEvoy. Customer service all the way, and an all round nice bloke. Almost (almost) redeems some of the horrible experiences we've had with that profession.
That's it for now - trivia night tomorrow and then sign the lease on Saturday morning and then pack, pack, pack. We officially farewell Ass on Sunday, even though she leaves next Friday, but either way she won't see the place until she gets back. If she decides to come back... More stories on Sunday!

Congrats on your new place :)! Finding it might takie time and effort, but when you do, it feels GREAT :)
