One year on

So Boff and I celebrated our one-year anniversary yesterday. We went to Cafe Ish in Surry Hills because I had a Spreets voucher for a $59 8-course banquet, which satisfied both his requirements as a variety slut for 'something different' and mine for 'something Japanese'. Besides which, being poor at the moment the price was right and I love Cafe Ish, so I knew it'd be a good night out.

We hadn't seen each other for about a week because we've both been busy and he's been a bit ill because he's just had his inoculations for his Africa trip so it was really great to be able to be together on our first anniversary.

I'm not sure what to write that isn't cheesy, but I suppose I'll characteristically understate my feelings by saying it has been a whole year and because it feels as if it has flown by, then surely it means that we have a lot more to do together? :)

I had a pretty busy week. I'm still coughing, though have started to sleep through the night, which has aided my mood immensely. I didn't end up having my review because one of the sales girls resigned, which sort of usurped proceedings, so it has been rescheduled for next week as I will be at a project management conference this week.

Other things that happened: bought a desk off Gumtree on Friday. The seller ended up being a PR company we sometimes deal with at work; it is moving to Surry Hills. Well, the desk was a corner unit, which was too big to fit in the car so we had to dismantle it and make two trips. The most embarrassing part was that they were offering Colgate-Palmolive products (one of their clients) and dad goes nuts for free stuff so ended up taking a bunch of stuff we don't actually need. Well, I don't use conventional toothpaste or shampoo so the six bottles of shampoo and conditioner and box of kids' toothbrushes was a bit much...

Also went to see a George Michael tribute show on Friday night (partial review here) with Assie, which was fun.

Saturday was full: had an appointment to adjust my tailored suit (the jacket sleeves are too tight), then had to hang around before a solar workshop at the Powerhouse Museum so sat outside the museum reading Tanith Lee's The Silver Metal Lover, which I'd picked up at Vinnies the previous day.

The solar workshop was pretty good, although too much time was devoted to solar hot water (apparently hot water accounts for about a third of one's power bill, however I don't use much. I take a 4-5 min shower every day using a 7.5L/min showerhead and occasionally use hot water for washing up but that's it...) and not enough to solar PVs. Still got the info that I wanted, though, and will take it to my strata committee for review.

Today Boff had to go back home (as he is STILL packing to move in) so I saw him off and then wandered down to Artarmon Reserve where they were giving away free plants and mulch for National Tree Day. Did some laundry and a little gardening (mostly cursing next door's cat, which has used my VegTrug as a toilet—grr!) but spent a large part setting up my new desk and listed my old desk on Gumtree and Freecycle. Finally some of the most difficult furniture arranging can begin as I bring a bunch of stuff down and fix up the stuff in the spare room.

This week: Sydney Underground Film Festival vollie night, three days of PMOz (project management conference), writing group (we've decided to enter The Age's short story comp), PRJournoLove, Melbourne farewell for Danielle, Cirque du Soleil, mum's birthday lunch.
