I can feel my toes again

Ack. Well tis early morning on Tuesday. I am sitting on my bed, where it is 15C, trying to warm up the room with a small heater fan.

I'm typing this on my phone as my laptop is at work and i can't be bothered unpacking and booting up my old laptop. This is unfortunate as i got some good mail today: The Cat Empire's new album, which i can't play on my broken stereo so will be taking the disc to work to listen to tomorrow (later today).

Working lots of hours with the enthusiasm of someone who is about to go part-time - woo! Gillian had her first week and all seems well. I have a tight couple of weeks and then should be okay.

Interesting things this week: saw 'Animal Kingdom' at the Dendy. Twas hyper stylised and ended on a satisfying note a la 'Wasted on the Young'. Unconvincingly high body count, though. I quite enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as the rave reviews suggested i should.

On Saturday i did lots of stuff i have been putting off like hanging up pictures (don't ask about the downstairs pillar), buying beans and filling up my new beanbag (two people and a plugged bathtub recommended, neither of which i could indulge) and general moving stuff out of the spare room in preparation for Sam. Strata will hold the meeting re: having a dog on July 12. I have a good feeling about being able to foster greyhounds.

Went to my high school's 40th anniversary with Assie and Alg on Sunday. Felt incredibly old. Recognised by Ms Arblaster (how terrific is that name?!) who was my yr 8 English teacher and Shakespeare Festival coach. Little did you know that i was a Shakespearean actor in my youth, and i'd like to keep in that way bcos i was terrible.

After reminiscing i went to Parramatta for Card Sharp but only Boff and Leith turned up. I find Leith incredibly dim and hate having to rely on her to get a game going. She can't even tell the difference between clubs and spades half the time. I like Boff, though. He's heaps smarter than me but knows his limits. We were talking about sci-fi on the train home (he lives in Croydon) and i asked if he was planning to go to WorldCon (held in Melbourne in September this year) and it turns out he is, so if i get bored of Dina and Desi i can hang out with him. Better start planning soon.

It is now 19.5C in my room. I'm going to bed.
