Felt good on Tuesday. Was invited to a DHL lunch and was terribly late because I had failed to write 'The Loft at Doltone House' and had instead written 'The Loft' (20 mins walk away). The up side was walking through Pyrmont on a beautiful day and running into Ness on her lunch break.
That evening I went to see my mortgage broker, who says I doth protest too much; I am actually in an enviable position and the only thing I should do differently is put more money in my mortgage as soon as I have some to spare. Phew. I walked to Neutral Bay from work and then walked home from Neutral Bay, bringing the day's exercise total to 10+km, which I should definitely try to emulate at least once a week with a couple of smaller walks as well.
I feel gypped that I live so far away from a swimming pool now, even though it's the same distance (timewise) by train to North Sydney Pool. Considering getting a swim pass to Willoughby Pool but it's at least 45 minutes walk away and I don't think I'd be able to do the walk back after a 2km swim, and there's no public transport option.
Only other exciting thing to happen in the past week is that I met with a potential flatmate, Samuel, on Wednesday and then, after he saw the house on Friday night, I offered him the room at the weekend, which he keenly accepted. I had that very rare feeling where I was 100% sure I made the right decision. I hadn't even interviewed any other potential flatmates (although I contacted a few matches online) but I just knew it would work out.
Most of this is because he's quite reserved and I know he won't be much trouble. Also he's quite young (21) and doesn't have a lot of stuff, but he has a steady job and clearly thinks the $270/week is a decent deal and is perfectly happy to fit in with my lifestyle. Phew! He moves in on July 10. Look, I know my mum is not happy about me having a male housemate, but I know he is not going to rob, rape or assault me and for that I am truly grateful.
Other stuff... Card Sharp on Friday with Bofinger and Assie, symphony with Assie on Saturday afternoon (the Bruch was awesome), then spent the night at my parents' and gained a whole bunch of Canadian things, including a Kindle bequested by my uncle.
Gillian started work today. Few teething problems with my laptop at work, which I hope will be sorted out soon, but otherwise all is tracking well.
