I'm in the same boat when it comes to debt. I freak out when my credit-card bill reaches few hundred euros, but the humongous mortgage I just brush off. The figures are so big that they are hard to comprehend, and the time it takes to pay it back (25 years in our case) is so long, that it all seems so.... distant.
