I'm going to try and blog on Mondays again. It seems it's the only day I'm regularly at home in the evenings, particularly with Japanese classes starting tomorrow and a bunch of Sydney Festival gigs coming up. It doesn't look like I'm going to stop until next Monday, either - my Saturday just got filled with a property inspection itinerary with my parents. Joy.
Festival First Night was pretty good. Sir and I got to The Domain just in time to see The Cat Empire play. Unfortunately the sound was shithouse so it wasn't as great as it could have been. We then met Gla down near the Beck's Bar. The police weren't letting anyone into College Street because of the massive crowd there so we filtered off into Hyde Park to see The Gypsy Queens & Kings.
Sir left because she had an early start the next morning (some Hindu ceremony) so Gla and I went to meet up with her friends in Angel Place so we caught the last DJ playing in the Laneways precinct. Both of us then got hungry so we ended up in a cafe at midnight eating chilli chocolate mudcake.
Yesterday I hoed into some work. First week back and I'm already doing overtime. This is because there are still three publications vying for my attention and they are all due this week. Crap! Still, I have a feeling I will make it. I don't know how I can tell, I just feel it will all be okay.
The rest of the week's evenings will go something like this: first Japanese class, Java at the Beck's Bar with Gla, Fanfare Ciocarlia at the State Theatre with Ness, Throwing Muses at the Beck's Bar with Sir, then: property inspections with mum and dad on Saturday and All Tomorrow's Parties on Cockatoo Island on Sunday. When will I eat? When will I sleep?
In other news, looks like my bro will be posted to Tokyo for a few months, which means I have somewhere to stay when I'm in Japan - excellent. Alison (Gla's twin - we used to call her Alg just for the palindromic effect) and Matt are finally getting married and my mum wants to set me up with her friend's nephew. Should I let her?
