The speed is on

I did okay in lockdown mode last week. Didn't get everything I wanted to get done done, but did a helluva lot more than if I'd just meandered along. I'm still really quite far behind, though and it gets me down if I think about it too much.

Last week instead of going to trivia Boff and I went to Greenups at the Oxford Art Factory. I met Linda, an acquaintance from uni, and she introduced me to her friend Tandi. When I went to get some food, Tandi introduced me to her mother, who happened to be my old freelancer acquaintance Linda Vergnani.

On Wednesday Boff and I went to see 'Pleiades' performed by Synergy Percussion (led by my other other boyfriend Timothy Constable). The first half I found bewildering, a lot of random clanging (just can't appreciate the avant garde percussion, me) but the last two parts were rhythmic bliss, that happy place I go to before I go to sleep.

Had a long day on Thursday that started at the chiro at 8.30am and went through three interviews (including with architect John Bilmon and the new CEO of AIPM, Sheryle Moon) and then two networking things: the Hong Kong House media gathering and the XMediaLab launch in Customs House where there were a lot of important funky media/creative/tech people. The lights on Customs House for Vivid Sydney were also fun to watch.

Friday started with volunteering at Vinnies, followed by hanging out at XMediaLab's Global Media Ideas conference to talk to said important funky media/creative/tech people as part of my freelancing role. I met the editor of 'Australian Creative' and got on quite well with her so I'm hoping that will eventually lead to more journo work down the track.

Then the evening and the long weekend filled up with movies for the Sydney Film Festival. Am seeing 11 this year and so far they've been 3 or 4 out of 5, nothing truly amazing as yet.

This morning I donated blood. Coincidentally, it happens to be World Blood Donor Day. Unfortunately the wrong thing (my weight) went up and the wrong thing (my haemoglobin) came down. Also, the nurse took a while to find my vein so I reckon I'm going to get a bruise. Plus the reluctant vein meant it took more than 12 minutes to give blood, when it usually takes about 6.

I went grocery shopping after and my keycard wouldn't work at Aldi and when I got home I found out it was because it was overdrawn by $150. I've now transferred money and have $20.19 to my name until the end of the month or until invoices come through. Sigh.

Time is speeding by but only for work not getting done. For invoices, time stands still and they never fall due. The speed is on. Go.
