How the?

Well, how did it get to Tuesday? As I was playing 500 online, it seems. At least, that's what happened last night when I tried to check in at the usual time and then started procrastinating on a number of things. I'll admit that I'm partially obsessed.

Last week was all about connecting with people. Apart from my client's trade fair, I also went to a Publishers Australia event where I not only met the very first person I interviewed for my client mag (she used to work for a exhibitions service), but also the editor of Nova (a holistic health magazine), to whom I pitched my 'overmedication of mental illness' story.

I've been sitting on it for a few years. I wrote it and started shopping it but then I got a full-time job and wasn't allowed to freelance. Obviously it needs to be updated but now that I'm part-time I'm allowed to write for non-competing publications, so the meeting was fortuitous.

Second draft of novel progressing incrementally. Despite going part-time (albeit on Friday) all my free time has been taken up with household things. There's a massive pile of boxes in the middle of my 'office', which are refugees from the spare room.

Sam moved in on Saturday. I have to say he is VERY quiet. And despite a few quirks (e.g. his diet appears to consist of skim milk protein shakes, instant noodles or tuna pasta and not eating vegetables), he'll fit in fine here. He even puts down the toilet seat.

My Saturday consisted of a Meetup at the Tara Tea Rooms at The Rocks, seeing 'Toy Story 3' with some friends and then going to dinner in Crows Nest with my folks. I convinced them to go to a Nepalese restaurant, Mustang. Food was terrific, except the dessert, which all drowned in too-sweet syrup. And they had fried ice cream which didn't appear to be fried!

Sunday was largely time-wasting. I sat and read 'The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest' for most of the day, and then played cards online at night. Sad. Then I was up so late I ended up watching the World Cup Final and went to bed at 7.30am on Monday.

The only other interesting thing that happened was that I went to the strata meeting about having a dog and they said I could have a greyhound. Not a surprise, really, considering the committee consists of me and Lindsay and Lindsay is very reasonable and tends to like and agree with reasonable people like me.

Not much else to report. Going to be a tough week, but then after my mag goes to the client in a couple of weeks I should be able to relax and really take advantage of my part-timeness.
