At some point I will figure out which pic I just uploaded. This is just a note to say my net time is just about to run out and I'll disgorge details of my last week when I get home... Or maybe do a round of Changi Airport free internet and see what I can come up with in 15 minute stints.
Okay, I am at Changi now. Got off the plane having watched three movies (actually, two and 7/8th of a movie so am looking forward to finishing the last one on the next leg). Went straight to get a foot massage, then bought some duty free alcohol as I wasn't able to buy any in Japan on account of having a connecting flight here. Then had a bowl of hot chocolate and am just 15 mins away from going to my gate (no more embarassing shuttle pick-ups...).
Kyoto was pretty cool, lots of temples, of course, and parks and gardens. Oh, but how I love a good temple in the morning. Also throngs of tourists, though and that was a real drawback, no peace anywhere, ironically.
Some of the cooler areas were around Kiyomizudera, Nannezaka and Sannenzaka (I will get the spelling right when I get a hold of my guidebook in my check-in luggage at home).
My last day was spent in Himeji to see their heritage castle, then stopped by the Tezuka Museum, which was really cool. Only problem was that it rained the entire day, which means I still have damp stuff, like I think the sneakers I'm wearing are still damp.
Anyway, gotta go catch a plane. Still haven't figured out which pic I uploaded above but will caption it when I am back in Sydney.
