I learnt three things about my family this week that I can't tell you

The first Green Biz Cafe of the year began at the Macro Cafe in Crows Nest but only a handful of people showed up because I'm totally lame at promoting this kind of stuff. But somehow it keeps falling to me to organise these types of things. I haven't yet learnt to say 'no'. Anyway, the cafe manager there, Lain, is ultra-nice and she even prepared plates of food for us to try so I hope I can drum up more business for the next one.

Other than that, had a pretty productive week at work, even if that didn't bleed into after hours. I'm still swamped by a load of things I have to do because I consistently fail to do them and have no excuse why they don't get done. You can make a girl productive but you can't stop her from procrastinating.

My sister stayed over on Friday night while Sir and I decided to mope around the house and watch episodes of House and Red Dwarf on DVD. Rach and I then went to our parents' on Saturday afternoon as I had to go to Wigson's wedding in Kenthurst.

The wedding was lovely. Despite not knowing anyone and being eaten by mosquitoes (it was a bushland setting after all), I managed to get acquainted with a few people who ended up being Wigson's housemates (until she moves out with hubby, of course) and at my table sitting next to me was a girl who looked familiar. She ended up being the photo lab assistant at Kmart in Castle Hill, which is why I recognised her as I used to get my photos developed there. Small world.

On Sunday Rach and I went for breakfast up the road. It was really supposed to be a family thing but my mum went to church and my dad said he had to mow the lawn before it rained. I did try to convince him it was just a coffee but he wouldn't budge. So just the two of us ended up going.

We ended up having a D&M (over a really good vego foccacia). I think these times remind me of the role that sisters are supposed to play in each other's lives and why the sisterly bond is far more important than the one between mother and daughter, and best friend and friend. I was never convinced that I would have been friends with my sister if we weren't related, but at the same time I think it is how it's meant to be, with a kind of pragmatic, perspective harvesting relationship between us.

Good stuff this week: booking flights to Japan.

Bad stuff this week: still somehow spending lots and lots of money by accident: "Oh, let's go into this clothing shop that I've never had an interest in before and buy these pants", "Oh, on the way to Wynyard Station let's drop into BOTH Fish Records and Red Eye Records and see what they have for me to blow money on", "Oh, while I'm out getting this wedding present, let's drop into Myer and buy new pyjama pants because they're on sale". (Actually I needed pyjama pants so that last one isn't that reckless).

Had a look at accommodation in Japan and it seems a bit pricey. I'm going to blow a LOT more money that I thought. But, you know what, it's worth it. It's life.
