Productivity 101

This is the way it's supposed to be done. You have a list of things to do and you do them in a sensible order and a timely manner. If people you call are not available to speak, you leave a message and you write down when you called as a reference. At the end of the day you feel very satisfied.

That was today.

Last week was a cacophony of editorial meetings and a peppering of interruptions. But nothing too interesting there.

On Friday night Sir and I went to see 'Wanted' (mostly because it was directed by the guy who did 'Nightwatch' and 'Daywatch' but let's not pretend Angelina wasn't a drawcard). Konstantin Khabensky (from 'Nightwatch' and 'Daywatch') cameoed. It was actually a much better movie than I thought it was going to be. James McAvoy is the new everyman superstar, much like John Cusack was in the 1990s and Edward Norton was earlier this decade. Kind of still is, but there's a new everyman now...

On Saturday it was my mum's birthday. Went home for the birthday dinner. My dad had planned an outing at a restaurant with all her friends as a surprise but my mum steamrolled that by inviting said same people around for dinner. Then my dad helped out by cooking a chicken curry and then my mum got annoyed because it was the 'wrong type' of curry. You have to feel sorry for my poor dad.

I would have preferred the restaurant option, then Rach and I wouldn't have spent half the night washing dishes. We then spent the other half of the night glued to the TV watching the Olympics.

It's funny how they can show you anything from women's weightlifting to clay shooting and you'll still watch it, even if you don't care about the sport or the athletes competing. It's vegie TV. This is probably why I don't watch TV at all, just in case.

Yesterday the four of us went to high tea at the Stamford Grand in North Ryde (carefully selected away from the city due to the City to Surf event). Rach and I thought it was $32pp for two (ie 'twin share') so I was much miffed when 'tea' consisted of a tea bag and a pot of hot water. It emerged that it was really $32 for two people so it wasn't so bad.

Here's a cute pic of my mum. Actually, it's of the dessert plate of the high tea tier but it has my mum in the background obediently looking into the camera.
