When is a weekend not a weekend? When it is more heavily scheduled than a weekday. 'Oh,' you say, 'that Dr Witmol - always complaining about stupid things like watching too many movies on the weekand and agreeing to start a business with her friends. What does she know? She isn't cowering in an attic wondering if a bomb will fall on her house, nor putting back the pieces of her life after the raging floods.'
Sure, whatever.
(I *am* going to complain about watching too many movies, by the way, so if that's not your thing, I suggest you leave now).
First of all I would like to say that it is *still* raining. I fear this may be some kind of horrible record. I suppose I should really be looking on the bright side about the end of the drought or something but actually it's misery. I can't believe that I am about to submit to Seasonal Affective Disorder (aka SAD). It is just cutting me to pieces that I have to use my environmentally unfriendly dryer for laundry because my sheets just won't dry on my balcony. I'm trying to remember what the sun looks like. No, really. It reminds me of the time when my friend Beq told me she overheard a little girl in Edinburgh asking her mother why the sky was blue "instead of white like it normally is", which horrified us.
So... I watched 8 movies in 7 days. Well, more if you count the fact that I saw two lots of compilations and the short film I saw before a main feature. That really is too many. (I think I previously mentioned 7 films in 7 days - well, I also saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3 on Saturday). My whole week has been a heavily scheduled mess because I've had to come in early to make up my hours so I didn't have to spend my annual leave.
On the weekend it was worse. I was supposed to meet Lee Tran at the State Theatre at 9:30am, half an hour before 'Forever' so we could have a coffee and a bite to eat. I left my house at 9am having eschewed breakfast on this premise. I waited at the station for half an hour. Eventually, as the crowd grew on the platform, I decided to ask the stationmaster whether he could tell me why there hadn't been any trains on Platform 1 for more than half an hour (on the weekends they usually run every 15 mins). He said there'd been a problem up the line but it was fixed now and the train was currently at St Leonards. I met LT at 9:55am, five minutes before the movie began and we went straight in.
We emerged at 11:40am. I was to meet Skippy at Epping at 12:30pm. Trouble ensued - trains weren't running between Strathfield and North Strathfield (that particular piece of trackwork is the bane of my existence I SWEAR), hence it took me more than 90 minutes to reach Epping. 1:20pm: Skippy and I finally meet.
Trouble was, I was supposed to be at Macquarie Centre by 2:15pm to see Pirates with Sir, Beq and Assumpta. Skips was kind enough to hop on a bus with me so that I could eat with her there and relax instead of eating lunch at Epping and then worrying that the bus wouldn't get me there on time. And I was *hungry*.
Fortunately Sir found us and gave me my ticket so I could join them in the theatre a bit later than they went in and I managed to sit down without missing any of the movie. After that we did some grocery shopping and I managed to take the night off.
Yesterday was quite a bit regimented but not plagued with horrible train stories. I walked from Central to Newtown to meet with Ness and Silvia for breakfast. Silvia is to become our second host for the Fanbase HQ project. Then Ness and I had to get to Mt Pritchard (which is a long way away, I assure you) to Jess and Mike's house for a FBHQ 'board meeting', putting together our business plan. After which I got to go home for a little bit before heading out again, at 9pm (in the cold and rainy night) for the screening of Teeth, which started late because the previous session ran over time. (The movie was great, btw, I recommend it if you like horror/comedy - though I might just issue a warning to the males of the species...).
Anyway, this is boring and my laundry is done so I'm going to go to bed now. Cheerio.
