Warp

It's all a matter of how you interpret the word "days". WELL. Apart from being in a complete time warp I am juggling the following:

- Still cleaning out my inbox (I'm about to reply to emails from March!)
- Trying to write an article a night about Chatswood (Chatswood is the suburb where I work and I've been commissioned to write about it for a website)
- Selling my goddamn medical article. I accidentally got Good Health & Medicine AND HealthSmart interested at the same time (it's a long story, it has to do with my server delaying the delivery of my emails for no apparent reason) but neither of them have replied with an affirmative despite both asking for the full article after my pitch. Grr! This means I have to call them while I'm at work...
- Fanbase doco (we've shot two interviews and will be lying in wait for Nine Inch Nails fans on May 9, 10 and 11) (the whole crew may also be going to Canberra for a day - I'm not sure how I feel about this)
- Palimpsest (a short term writing project)
- My novel (a long, long term writing project)

Unfortunately all this leaves me no time at all to celebrate my birthday, which is okay with me in the end - I'm too lazy to organise anything plus everything has been so fractutred lately that I don't think I have the muscle to convince everyone to come along. I don't have groups of friends any more, I just have satellite friends that take a lot of effort to gather up. Sometimes it's just not worth it. Add to the fact that in the next couple of weeks two friends are coming to Sydney from overseas before leaving again plus my dad's retirement party (and mother's day - oh god I'm going to spend a weekend with my parents and there's no puppy dog to buffer me). Gaah!

And yes, I'm still working in business hours - this is just all my extracurricular activities. So that's why I haven't checked in for a while.

Then there's the persistent thought about doing a degree or some kind of study in Naturopathy. I'm going to the Nature Care College open day on the weekend to see what it's like, though I'd also consider the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences and the Australian Centre for Natural Therapies. Unfortunately the whole shebang is prohibitively expensive. I think the cheapest degree was $17K, which is a lot considering I'm not even sure I want to practice commercially after I'm done. And I think another price was $10K a semester (or a year - I can't remember) for 3 or 4 years - yikes! Maybe I'll just take the introductory course which is a 'mere' $500. There are also diplomas and advanced diplomas that I wouldn't rule out.

Too many crossroads. I keep turning from one to another not knowing how much to dedicate of myself but something has to give soon or fragments of my brain will start to break off and orbit my life instead of participating. And how are you?
