Full-Time

Today is floorboard renovation eve.

Half a week later (and not even Monday yet!) and I'm posting a week's worth of activity because suddenly everything has come to a head at once.

I didn't end up going to work for SWF on Thursday because they didn't have any work organised, which was fine with me because I suddenly felt all droopy and unmotivated. Instead I decided to follow up on the David Jones chick who was supposed to call me back about Glo's bridal registry. I ended up driving in to Parramatta Westfield (the scourge of my consumer existence, blergh) to go to the DJ's there where they had the [item]. Myer had a 'one day only' 20% off sale but I didn't feel like buying anything (er, spending my money) until I got to the hosiery counter and ended up shelling out almost $20 for a couple of pairs of funky stockings (one pair was reduced, reduced and then reduced some more to $1.61 and doesn't really count, but it made the average amount spent on both pairs more favourable for me).

Assumpta was admitted to hospital for her knee operation but didn't come out of surgery until after visiting hours. She was only supposed to be in there overnight but she was at the tail end of a chest infection so they kept her back for another night and Sireesha and I were able to swing by on Friday night (after Nerds FC) and say 'hi'.

Friday was supposed to be a nothing sort of day - I had a list of stuff to do and everything (and actually diligently completed it, eventually) - but then Stuart rang me at 11am to say that he'd had a fight with his mum and that she was kicking him out of the house. He'd spent the night at his godfather's place but was back in Dee Why for the moment. We had the same conversation as we'd had before (when his dad 'kicked him out') and resolved nothing. I wish I could say he could come live at mine for a while but apart from my parents not approving of him + the floorboard business, my place is terrible for someone who relies on public transport because we don't get much out here.

Anyway, today I rang him to check how he was going and it turns out his mum has decided not to move in after all so each of the remaining residents (ie Stuart, his brothers 21yo Alex and 15yo Geordie) have to come up with about $110 each week for rent with nary a job between them. Doesn't seem right to me. It's worse, actually, but I won't go into it because it's not my place to air it to the www.

Okay, well yesterday I spent most of the day helping Jade move out of her apartment and into a house at Randwick (temporarily). Have decided never to live in a place with lots of stairs. And also to do a bi-annual cull so unnecessary items don't get out of hand. During which time Sireesha called me to introduce her surprise (she'd told Assumpta and I about it on Friday during our hospital visit) - Beq is back from Edinburgh! One week only!

So today, instead of clearing out my room like I was supposed to, I went to brunch with Beq and a handful of her friends at Eden Gardens in Lane Cove. The food is good but a bit pricey and the service is terrible but have a wander around the gardens and pose next to all the statues.

Summary of this half-week: friend in hospital, boyfriend kicked out of home, friend moving to another country, friend back from another country and floorboards. Better get some sleep before the floorboard dudes see me in my pyjamas (they are coming at some ungodly hour, like 7am). The sooner I wake up and smell the coffee, the sooner it will all be over and I'll have my room back. Ciao.

The summary at the end helped me digest the post. Thank you!
