All hands

The search for my replacement is in dire straits. Not a frickin' qualified candidate in sight, though there were a few magicians, swimming instructors and acrobats who thought they could edit a magazine or two. One applicant was close to getting a call-up (I didn't think he was that great...) until I spotted: "Attentative to detail."

Nothing too special in the last week. A few meetings, lots of work, my first strata meeting where I found out the people next door haven't had their cats approved by the committee (!).

Eventually got to see 'Hot Tub Time Machine' which was actually much funnier than I thought it was going to be. It will be a DVD classic.

Cleaner came for the first time on Friday and did a good job scrubbing out the oven in time for my party. On Friday night I ducked into the Macquarie Hotel to see Danwise, whose birthday drinks were there. Saw a lot of Red Apple people but could only stay for one drink because my sis was coming off the coach from Canberra and we were prepping for my party (making cookie batter, brownies etc etc).

Birthday tea party housewarming went well, though there was a lot of food logistic stuff that I could have done better (Rach: "You're too slow! I'm putting in the cupcakes." / Me: "We're not on Masterchef, you know!").

Of course everyone wanted a tour so everyone got to see the atrocious state of my room and my ricketty loft ladder.

Spent Sunday slowly cleaning up, even though I could have made headway on some work. Or started reading a book or something.

Have started a group for intermediate card players on Meetup.com because I have decided I want to play cards. It had an ill-omened start, which was Westpac suspending my credit card because it thought the US$19 subscription charge was linked to fraud. Hope I get a few names and details of people before I have to close the account. Or at least a good game of 500.
