They cancelled the next issue of my magazine and now Colin wants me to do the stupid Telstra thing which is write 100 80-word articles for business news mobile phone subscribers - aargh!
That is to say, since the shit seems to be going down at the AIPM – Cathy Wagner, their acting operations manager, also certification and assessment manager, also acting CEO, also acting communications manager, has resigned - they cancelled the June/July issue of the magazine.
Cathy passed the editorial baton to Trevor Alex, head of the editorial committee (and, may I say, seems to know not much about publishing...) and he had a meeting with the board and the president. He called me this morning to say they wanted to cancel the magazine and push everything back an issue (so June/July becomes August/September and so on).
Despite all the fuss over Dynamic Business, this is SO ANNOYING because I've already commissioned most of it and even worse, Fiona (ad sales girl) has sold most of the ads without even doing any hard campaigning. So she has to unsell the ads and sell them into Aug/Sep and move everything back. Sigh. And it was her birthday today.
At least Rob has been a sweetie throughout. I suppose none of it really falls on his shoulders so he has the freedom to be nice. Maybe I should just ask him out? Hang the fraternising with the client taboo? (Although... if he turns me down it would be really awkward...).
Someone gimme a break.
