Charlton Clark and Dr Jeremy Smith
So many puns to use, so little headline space. I refer, of course, to the Antarctic Airlink, the most impressive part of which is the ice runway, that began commission last week. I'd set up an interview with Charlton TMBPMITC* for Friday - he was to call me because he was jetsetting around the country (doing what he does in various states) but never did, which resulted in two thoughts:
1) oh shit, I'm never going to get this issue done
2) oh my god, he has probably literally fallen off the edge of the world
Fortunately, neither thought was the case. He apologised today for not calling due to being in transit all of Friday and rescheduled the interview for tomorrow. There was plenty of coverage of the airlink in the Fairfax papers in the past week and I think a little in News Ltd publications so I know I'm onto a good story.
In less exciting news, I've just calculated that I spent more time in transit this weekend just gone than I did sleeping, largely due to trackwork on my train line, two return trips to The Hills and another to Hurstville.
On Friday I: attended farewell drinks, tried to buy an artwork at The Arthouse Hotel, ate a double share of sushi and dessert, murder a few songs at karaoke, (at the Shelbourne) fobbed off a guy who looked like my old boss and refused a marriage proposal by a guy wielding a glow stick bracelet.
On Saturday I: made trifle, foiled a ticket inspector on the train to Beecroft, had yum cha with various members of family, attended an anti-Christmas party (involving beating down a Santa pinata then burning the remains) and rode the nightride bus for the second night in a row.
They were the highlights of my weekend.
Nothing much else to report. Still fretting about editing this mag with any competence but am happily corresponding with Rob, who may not be beautiful (oh, but he is!) or a project manager, but certainly trumps Charlton in brownie points for helping me out of some tight fixes instead of making me fret for nothing.
(* the most beautiful project manager in the cosmos)
