Went to see 'Thank You For Smoking' last night. I think I'm coming down with something so I managed to get suckered into buying one of those vitamin C drinks from the Asian grocery store near the cinema while waiting for Sir to meet me. Followed by hot miso soup. I'll write a review soon - as soon as I catch up on the Varekai review I was meant to write last week. I keep promising things that I don't quite have time to deliver. I've lost count of the number of things I'm behind on, including two birthday letters, two reviews and my piece for the next session of Ink Well.
I also went back to Dick Smith yesterday and managed to find the competent sales guy and exchanged the access point for a router. After we came back from the movies we spent all night trying to set it up, only to find out that the modem we have has a particular problem with configuring to the router we bought. Wow. We stuffed up without even having to stuff up. Anyway, so Sir was on the phone to her brother for a large part of the night and in the end we just had to reset the modem and start again. For a while there AirPort was picking up the network but just not going online with it. Slippery lil' sucker.
Speaking of slippery, I had a really weird day today. Just this week I feel like I've been swimming in quicksilver. Swimming, not drowning. I was really productive in the morning, despite feeling rather under the weather, then I spent the middle session of the day finishing my composition for the fortnightly writing comp. Although the morning shower dampened the grass we decided we would play soccer after all, which I didn't think was a top idea but just went along anyway. The green team had six, the reds had five (including soccer chief Ben in shorts) but we still won 8-7. This was despite an own goal from yours truly when a corner penalty rebounded off my elbow. I felt terrible after that. I think I only had two good things happen to me the whole game. I suppose we won, but no thanks to me.
Afterwards I went for a "man walk" (it's like the mobile version of retreating into a "cave") via Dickson's (a music store) to buy an electronic tuner as I am about to become a violinist again, and then Boost, to get a wheatgrass shot and a cocktail of other juicy vitamins. Felt a little better but then had an email conversation with V2 about my "man walk" and she gave me a hug, which made me feel much better.
Spent most of the afternoon writing an article on karaoke for the newsletter because I felt really tired. I'd best get some solid sleep to shake off this lurgy that's haunting me. Tomorrow the cousins are meeting, then on Friday we have a half day off for a compulsory lawn bowls outing so I have to stay well for at least another week.
