The truth about paperclips

The truth, like a paperclip, is meant to be bent but in such a way that everyone knows it has been manipulated. When it comes to paperclips, everyone *knows* what a straight piece of metal looks like but they are comfortable with paperclips because that's the way we use them. Similarly, a bent kind of truth is bent to be used. Everyone knows it has been bent, but everyone knows it has been bent for a reason.

I, it must be said, find it very difficult to lie and quite possibly would not be able to lie to save my life. I don't know why I can't lie, perhaps I'll die.

I have been asked to lie in my day job. Like sausages and laws, sometimes it's best not to know how these things come to be. These lies aren't big lies, but they do involve inflating the truth to a degree I'm not comfortable with and deliberately being vague about things. The problem is that it takes so much energy to uphold the lie that the opportunity cost has become too great for me. What else could I have achieved with the energy that I have spent concealing and evading?

Hello Mr Fork-in-the-Road, we meet again. This time I'm almost certain day job and I need to part ways: it can continue along the route we've travelled and I'll take the new route. I'm ripe for change. I don't know how I'm going to survive financially but I also know I'll be okay. So here goes: I'm ready to jump.
Away from my desk, sent from my BlackBerry.
