I think this is what 'they' mean when 'they' talk about crashing and burning.
So my week since last Monday went something like this:
Tuesday
AM: Interview with client's client's client for case study. That is, my client is a PR agency, their client is an IT firm, the IT firm's client is a services company. The interview was on a project the IT firm did with the services company to be used as a testimonial case study.
PM: Work in the office. Colin has put the pressure on to get sales on the site. This is the part I'm not very good at.
Late PM: Trivia. It was just Peter (sort of team captain) and I. We were languishing near the bottom for both rounds, then turned out to be one of only four teams to get the last question right. We scraped in at third place because another team didn't bet enough points. Whoo!
Wednesday
AM: Interview with Richard Brodie, author of 'Virus of the Mind'.
AM-PM: Work in the office.
PM: Three-way marketing meeting with PR client and their IT firm client.
Late PM: Writing group meeting. It seems I have made a second draft breakthrough!
Thursday
AM-PM: Work in the office.
Late PM: Thursday night shopping for bras. Ate a bowl of noodles as big as my head. Some freelance work. Boff sleeps over.
Friday
AM-PM: Freelance subbing at Pacific Mags for 'Voyeur' (Virgin Blue's inflight mag). I was surprised at how much I was able to fix. I thought the copy would be cleaner than that... Always interesting to see what other publishing places are like nevertheless.
Late PM: Farewell to Julia, our head designer. Met everyone at the Hunky Dory Social Club (a rooftop in Darlinghurst) drank and ate at a poor ratio, stumbled out of there at 10pm and into Cold Rock where I got a raspberry sorbet with gummi bear mix-ins at the outrageous price of $8.10.
Managed to walk down Oxford St into a kebab shop. Ate half of it, felt a little ill, caught the train and fell asleep with said kebab in my hand. Miraculously disembarked at Artarmon and had the rest of the kebab for breakfast.
Saturday
AM: Freelance PR work.
PM: Drinking tea at My Tea House with Raymond (proprietor) and Rebecca (tea sommelier).
Sunday
AM-PM: Visited Assie in hospital. She had to have an appendectomy. All the tests came back clean for appendicitis but she admitted herself into hospital because she was in too much pain for it to be nothing and they did a laparoscopy and found out her appendix was in a weird place and scarred from appendicitis, so removed it.
We played cribbage until her mum and cousins came. By the time I left it was 4pm and cold and (really, really) raining and I didn't have a jacket or umbrella. I credit this hour of being cold and wet for the sniffles that came to me at night.
Monday
AM-PM: Back at 'Voyeur'. This time did some writing including a quiz about movies and an 'interview' with Nicole Kidman about her role in 'Rabbit Hole' (ie writing questions to suit responses provided in production notes - always thought that was the case).
Late PM: Sick. Tired. Was supposed to write some PR scripts (for TV) but could only manage a short email begging for an extension. Sleep.
That'll teach me for working too hard. And hanging out in the cold rain. On the plus side, this last week earnt me $875 on top of my usual salary.
(Small guilty pleasures: seeing a PR I wrote used in a news story.)
