Starting something

How do traditions begin? Do you do something a few times in a regular fashion and make it essential to a celebration, a ritual?

Christmas at my parents' place now consists of:
  1. Breakfast

  2. Gift opening

  3. Watching 'It's a Wonderful Life' and/or 'Life of Brian' on DVD

  4. Snacking in lieu of lunch

  5. Playing Wii

  6. Christmas dinner involving way too much food and wine

  7. Karaoke

Boff survived my parents. I didn't really help him in any way, except for letting him know when something was important or not (ie the fact that my dad is partially deaf was not to be taken personally).

He wasn't so sure of surviving Skippy, who we visited on Boxing Day at her parents' place, though. He had a go at me about something completely separate while we were there as well, so the whole visit didn't have the most positive vibe.

I did wonder how the whole thing would go down: Skippy is psychic and Boff is sceptic but close-minded about it. I mean to say that I am a sceptic but am open to the possibility of something being true. Scepticism is doubt, not absolute denial.

Did something just start?
