Want sleep, get work

Last week was hellish. The best bit about it is that it's over.

Where should I begin? The acres of work that had to be done? The fact that some kind of construction work was going on at Waverton Station directly behind my building until 3am?

Between the overwork and the night work I managed about 3-4 hours sleep a night for four nights. Not a good recipe for sunshine and happiness.

Add to that a dust storm and hurricanesque winds rattling the windows all weekend and I'm rather surprised that I haven't killed myself yet.

But why would I kill myself when I've just applied for a new job, one which will pay me between $10-25K more than I'm getting now? Surely I want to see results for my eight-hour application effort?

I limped through to Friday evening. Sir and I went to dinner with Ass at that noodle place near Central, then had dessert at Market City before Ass had to go home and Sir and I ended up at The Oaks in Neutral Bay with Beq after she finished her shift.

Got home at 1am-ish and slept through until 1:30pm on Saturday. Sleep! Finally!

Pottered around in the afternoon until I realised Cityrail were doing trackwork on my line and if I wanted to get to West Ryde for dinner by 7pm I had to catch the bus by 5:30. Met some school friends at Singapore Kitchen there. Apart from seeing Gla it was quite boring.

It was organised by this girl named Joan who I've never really been friends with (in Year 9 we were science lab partners, does that count?) and who I find quite dull. The kind of person who goes travelling not to discover cool things but so she can pretend she's interesting by saying she's travelled though doesn't have anything to say about where she's been. The worst part was that I found out she lives near me (Cammeray) so she ended up giving me a lift home and I had to make small talk with her for about 30 mins.

My sister stayed over and in the morning we went to Chequers in Chatswood for yum cha with the parents. Waited over an hour (even had surprisingly good coffee from the Asian-run cafe downstairs) and I told them about the Austrade job and they actually got excited for me. So now I have to follow through.

Afternoon was spent baking fudge cookies before Skippy rang with some feedback about my application and so I spent until 11:21pm (the applications closed at 11:30pm) rewriting it. It's in now, can't change it, bit jittery but you know, it's all up to fate now blah blah.

Today was entirely devoted to my client publication (with a short break for an interview about acquiring a business), which I will have to take into the city personally tomorrow morning because we missed the last mail.

Aaaand Sir bought a new TV so we christened it this evening by watching 'Street Fighter' (1994). So much cheese it needs a warning for the lactose intolerant.
