All righty. This will be a quick one for me on account of me being in Melbourne and therefore paying for this by the minute (well, it's $4/hr so not a lot, but STILL).
Also my eyes are a bit funny because I spent all morning at the aquarium looking through acrylic displays which warped my eyesight. Let's not mention I followed that with a tour of the Carlton & United Brewery and had three beers. Or that I went to a wine bar for dinner, then up the dizzying 88 floors of the Eureka Skydeck.
Um. So. Last week was one of those crazy pre-going away weeks where I had to do twice as much as usual and as a result got nothing real done. After all the shenanigans with sales last week the potential came back and said they didn't have any money (!). Like, why the hell talk to us about $40K packages, then?!
Skippy came down from Brissie on Thursday but I'd already made plans to see 'Ponyo' with Sir at the Dendy in Newtown so she came along to that and that's pretty much all the time we had to spend together.
Let's be honest. I don't remember much else from last week.
On Friday I got into Melbourne, went straight into a meeting with Business Victoria (Vic govt) then spent the rest of the afternoon at the Melbourne Writers Festival.
Saturday morning was spent in a literary fashion at Mag Nation, then the Federation Square book market, then Sticky Zine Institute. Spent a lot of money at all three. Went on a chocolate tour, which was quite good, then went to the McSweeney's issue 32 launch at the Toff in Town, which was also good.
A lot of joy from having the new McSweeney's signed by Eli Horowitz, Wells Tower & Heidi Julavits (Beliver editor and McS contributor). Heidi unsurprisingly liked my Believer tee.
Yesterday: Queen Vic Markets, MCG (no tour as there was an AFL game), Old Melbourne Gaol (pic above is of me in the padded cell), meeting Mandy and Jen (workmates) at The Boathouse for champers, Red Door Burlesque at the Order of Melbourne.
Today: aquarium, Carlton Brewery tour and Eureka Skydeck.
I gotta go, my time is running out and I only thought to bring $5 out with me. Maybe more tomorrow.
